The objective of recovery projects is to return the landscape to its natural condition or prepare the affected area to another use in response to land use plane. The first option allows the area to be a functioning self-sufficient ecosystem with naturally indigenous animal and plant life and the second option prepares the area to be an industrial, leisure or urban area.
